Spooky Halloween Zentangle

A not so scary Halloween Zentangle

My hubby is an amazing artist who can draw some seriously gory/scary artwork.  He inspired me (and also it's Halloween season of course!) to try to make a scary-ish Zentangle.  Welp, it certainly is still very cutesy - but I like it!  It was a fun change.

Art supplies used

I started out with the background already premade in my art journal.  If you want to know how I made my journal feel free to join my art group on Facebook.  (the link to the group is to the right on this blog).  I liked how the distress ink looked sort of like thrown/splattered, similar to blood splatter.  Instead of red blood, I went with pink blood.  LOL  It works for me.  I found a bunch of reference photos on Pinterest and sort of just let my pen flow!  The bright yellow is Inktense pencils.  I am really loving these, they work well over other mediums (distress ink, acrylic, watercolor) and still Inktense stays super vibrant.  Check them out if you haven't yet!

Happy Halloween Zentangle Banner

Happy Halloween Fall Zentangle front door home decor

My Zentangle Halloween banner for my front door is finished!! I listed some of the patterns (with links) and such for the first part of the banner here in this post.  I used the We are Memory Keepers Alphabet Punch Board. It’s easy and fun! This punch is seriously magical. lol When I first purchased it I thought to myself how in the world does this little dohickey make all the letters of the alphabet (and numbers too)?!  I have a ton of ideas I plan to use this cool gadget with!

More info on the tangles used...

I used this Copic Marker set to shade with.  Copic markers are so handy when you have a lot of shading to do but your hands are tired/sore.

I don't remember most of the tangles used in the word HALLOWEEN, most are probably mix-ups or tangleations of other patterns.  I do remember I used the tangle pattern "mac and cheese" by Sandra Strait for the letter E.  You can find the pattern here at Pattern Collections.

Halloween Costumes!

I might be going to a few costume parties this year. The last time I dressed up for Halloween I was Monica Lewinsky & my husband dressed in a Bill Clinton mask *(that had kisses all over the mask & his tongue sticking out) ... I wore a beret (that Monica frequented) and a blue dress. Gosh, I wish I had a picture of us!

Anyways.......I started looking online for costume ideas & inspiration. Not sure if I'll buy one or make a costume this year. Here is a list I published of Plus Size Halloween Costumes. Lots of links & even a few references for some D.I.Y. ideas.
